Rare 1969 photograph: Goran Alachki as a child on Avala
A black-and-white snapshot taken on Avala in 1969 shows the musician as a child with his father and the family NSU Prinz.
A rare black-and-white photograph from 1969 has resurfaced on social media, showing celebrated Macedonian accordion virtuoso and composer Goran Alachki as a small boy alongside his father, Blagoj Alachki. The image, taken at the popular Belgrade outing spot Avala, was shared by Alachki and quickly drew warm reactions from fans.
In the picture the young Alachki poses next to the family car, an NSU Prinz, with his father standing beside him. As Alachki captioned the post: "With my father Blagoj Alachki and our NSU Prinz... 1969 Belgrade, Avala..."
Roots and early years
Although many associate Alachki with Skopje and the Maleshevo region, he has previously noted that he was born in Pozarevac and treasures memories from those early years. He has also spoken openly about his family origin: "My father Blagoj Alachki was born in Vladimirovo. For me it is both homeland and ancestry, and there I truly feel at home. My surname Alachki comes precisely from that stone, from the Alachki neighborhood, from a family that has its own centuries-old history," Alachki has said.
To honor his father's native village and to preserve Macedonian musical traditions, Alachki built the Alachki Cultural Center in Vladimirovo and has for years organized the Folk-fest Vladimirovo, a festival that brings together leading figures of the national folk scene.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Goran Alachki is credited with over 500 compositions, oros and arrangements. His catalogue includes enduring hits such as "Dojdi mi Leno na perniche belo" performed by Dragan Mijalkovski and the Eurovision piece "Parche od Evropa" sung by Toshe Proeski. The shared childhood photograph served as another reminder of the family roots and values behind one of Macedonia's best-known musical ambassadors.
