Rodri to miss around three weeks after tendon injury, Barcelona confirms
Medical tests on November 4, 2026 confirmed a right-leg tendon injury that rules Rodri out of Barça’s game with Atlético and Spain’s November internationals.

Barcelona confirmed on November 4, 2026 that midfielder Rodri will be sidelined for around three weeks after tests showed a tendon injury to his right leg. The club said the medical examinations conducted at its training base validated the initial concerns and announced the player will miss the club’s match against Atlético Madrid on November 8.
Barcelona did not give a precise timetable for a full return, stressing that recovery will depend on how the injury develops. "The exact recovery time will depend on the evolution of the injury," the club said in a medical statement.
The injury also rules Rodri out of Spain’s upcoming international fixtures: the match against the Czech Republic on November 12 and the game against England on November 15. The club indicated it expects the midfielder to be absent for at least three weeks.
How the injury happened and the team impact
Rodri suffered the problem during Barcelona’s Champions League tie with Aston Villa, feeling pain in the back of his thigh and being unable to continue. Head coach Hansi Flick confirmed the issue at his post-match press conference.
His absence would be a setback for Flick: Rodri has started 11 of Barcelona’s 15 official matches this season, ten times alongside Pedri and once with Gavi in the win over Betis. Beyond Atlético on November 8, he could also miss La Liga fixtures at Villarreal on November 22 and against Deportivo on November 29, plus the Champions League game with Sabah on November 25.
