Romelu Lukaku close to move to Fenerbahçe
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto reports Lukaku has given consent and now Napoli and Fenerbahçe must negotiate terms.
08.08.2026 — Romelu Lukaku is reportedly on the verge of joining Fenerbahçe after giving his consent to a move, a development that would follow Mohamed Salah's earlier transfer to Turkey.
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has written that Lukaku has accepted the possibility of a transfer to the Istanbul club, opening the way for negotiations between the two clubs.
Next step: talks between clubs
The Belgian striker is currently registered with Napoli, but his spell at the Italian side could end this summer. With Lukaku’s agreement secured, the decisive phase now falls to club negotiators.
Napoli and Fenerbahçe must agree on a transfer fee and the remaining contractual details for the experienced goalscorer. Club-level talks will determine whether the move proceeds and on what financial terms.
Fenerbahçe have been searching for a high-calibre striker, and landing a forward of Lukaku’s stature would signal the club’s ambitions domestically and in European competitions.
Lukaku brings extensive experience from top leagues, having played in England, Italy and other major European tournaments, experience that would be prized at the Istanbul club.
