Russian soldier kills colleague and three civilians in Khmelnitskoye, suspect detained
Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said one soldier and three civilians were killed; the suspect has been detained.
A Russian serviceman has been taken into custody after fatally shooting a fellow soldier and three civilians in the village of Khmelnitskoye in Crimea, Sevastopol authorities said.
Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev reported that four people were killed in the incident: one serviceman and three civilians aged 71, 64 and 59.
Four more people were wounded, including another soldier. Razvozhayev wrote that "medical teams are doing everything they can to save them."
Suspect and immediate aftermath
The alleged attacker was identified as 21-year-old Maksim Alistratov from the Saratov region in southern Russia. He reportedly fled into nearby woods after opening fire on his comrades. "The attacker has been detained," Razvozhayev wrote.
The incident occurred on the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014. Local officials said emergency and medical teams remained at the scene as investigations continued.
