Sabotage on Dutch tracks disrupts rail services, affecting Amsterdam
ProRail warned of cancellations and delays in central and northern parts of the country after pipes were found attached to tracks.
Parts of the Netherlands, including Amsterdam, have seen major rail disruptions after what the rail infrastructure operator described as possible sabotage on several tracks.
ProRail warned that passengers in the central and northern Netherlands should expect cancellations and delays throughout the day, and that closures of some level crossings could also cause road disruptions.
Devices found on tracks
Local reports say pipes were attached to tracks at multiple locations. ProRail said the incident appears to be a "deliberate disruption caused by human action."
Train services across affected corridors were suspended or running with significant delays while engineers and safety teams inspected the lines and removed the devices. Authorities have not released details about any suspects or arrests.
Commuters were advised to check the status of their journeys before travelling and to allow extra time. ProRail said it was coordinating with police and other emergency services as investigations continued.
