Sadio Mané invests nearly $20 million in CM10Agro and promises 1,000 jobs in Bambali

Sadio Mané has announced a major investment in his hometown of Bambali, Senegal, backing a mango production and processing initiative that he says will create about 1,000 jobs. The project, named CM10Agro, is financed with nearly $20 million and with local-currency financing reported at 11.7 billion CFA francs (about $20.4 million).

Production lines, plantation and an agricultural school

The plan foresees construction of modern mango processing plants in Bambali, including a facility specifically set up to produce mango oil. CM10Agro will also establish a 500-hectare mango plantation and open an agricultural school to train local farmers and technicians. Mané said additional jobs will be created in transport and distribution linked to the project.

Speaking at the project's opening ceremony in Dakar, Mané explained the motivation behind the investment:

"The region loses between 30 and 40 percent of the mango it grows because of inadequate storage and processing conditions. I want the wealth of our land to stay here, at home. This project will immediately employ 1,000 people. In Bambali processing plants will be built, one of which will be specialized in the production of mango oil. A 500-hectare mango plantation will also be established and an agricultural school will be opened so that young people and women from my hometown have real opportunities for education. Additional jobs will be created in transport and distribution for the needs of CM10Agro," Mané said.

The investment is the latest in a series of philanthropic efforts by Mané in Senegal. Over the years he has funded the construction of hospitals and schools that provide free services to local communities.

Mané’s move merges his sporting profile with longer-term economic development goals for his region, aiming to keep more of Senegal’s agricultural value chain onshore and to provide vocational opportunities in rural areas.
