The football world in Turkey was rocked by transfer speculation after a report suggesting Mohamed Salah has agreed a two-year deal with Trabzonspor worth about c15 million per season plus bonuses. The original report carried the timestamp 01.08.2026 8:20 and said an official confirmation was expected on August 2, 2026.

Rapid developments and immediate denial

The story, attributed to Turkish reporter Jakup Dinar, named Trabzonspor as Salah's next destination following his exit from Liverpool. According to those claims, the move would see the Egyptian forward continue his career on the Black Sea coast and represent one of the largest signings in the history of Turkish football, should it be completed.

In recent weeks Salah has been linked with several clubs across Europe and Turkey, with Besiktas repeatedly mentioned among the frontrunners. The new report, however, asserted that Trabzonspor had convinced him to join their squad on a lucrative short-term contract.

Shortly after the transfer rumours circulated, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan publicly denied that a deal had been concluded. That denial means the details must still be treated with caution: there has been no confirmation from Mohamed Salah, his representatives or from Trabzonspor at the time of the initial report.

If eventually finalised, the transfer would add a high-profile name to the Turkish Super Lig and bring one of Africa's most decorated players and a long-standing world-class striker to Trabzonspor's ranks.
