Only 17% approve of Trump’s handling of cost of living; three‑quarters say U.S. economy is poor
Poll of more than 2,000 adults finds low approval for Trump on cost of living and the economy.

Only 17 percent of adult Americans approve of the way President Donald Trump is handling the cost of living, while about three-quarters rate the state of the U.S. economy as poor, according to a recent nationwide poll.
The survey finds that roughly 65 percent of Americans blame Trump’s policies as a main reason for high prices. Support for his broader economic leadership is weak: just 26 percent approve of the way he is managing the economy.
Partisan split on responsibility, not approval
Views diverge sharply along party lines. Among Republicans, 67 percent say the causes of high prices are factors beyond his control, yet about six out of ten Republicans still do not approve of his handling of the cost of living.
The poll was conducted from September 24 to 28 among more than 2,000 adults. It also shows that only about three in ten Americans generally approve of Trump’s job performance as president.
Taken together, the results point to broad public dissatisfaction over economic conditions and limited political credit for the president on those issues.
