SDSM urges prosecutor to open probe after risky bacterium found in Gostivar water

SDSM called today for the public prosecutor’s office to open an investigation after the party said recent tests found a bacterium in Gostivar's water supply that poses a health risk.
Party representatives stated that the discovery introduces a new and serious element to the ongoing contamination scandal. SDSM accused opposition figures Mickoski and Klekovski of actions that, the party says, endangered the health of local residents.

SDSM demanded swift legal action and transparent publication of laboratory results. The party argued that authorities must determine responsibility and whether any negligence or misconduct occurred in the management of the town's water system.
Municipal officials have previously convened a crisis headquarters meeting dedicated to the water situation in Gostivar; SDSM said the recent bacterial finding heightens the urgency for remedial measures and independent oversight.
The party urged the prosecutor’s office to act quickly so that an official inquiry can establish the scope of contamination, identify possible sources, and evaluate any links to decisions or omissions by named political actors.
