SDSM: Mickoski government botched the Macedonian flag at independence celebration
SDSM published a photo and asked which company prepared the staging after a flag error during the 35th-anniversary concert in Ohrid.
The opposition Social Democratic Union (SDSM) accused Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski's government of mishandling the Macedonian national flag during the official event marking 35 years of independence, and published an image showing the alleged error.
“Shameful and humiliating. The government of Mickoski is spending millions of euros of the people's money, yet it did not even manage to make the Macedonian flag correctly. The tender-patriots have shown their face. Again. They got the Macedonian flag wrong,” SDSM said.
Opposition demands answers
SDSM demanded that the authorities disclose which company was hired for the event and who was responsible for the scenography and the visual identity, calling for those responsible to be held accountable.
“They only know about tenders, percentages, commissions; when statehood is at stake, Macedonian national symbols, they have no clue. For tenders and commissions from million businesses — they are experts. For the Macedonian flag — amateurs. They are incapable of making the Macedonian national flag correctly. The government should now come out before the citizens and say: Which company was engaged? Who was in charge of scenography and the visual identity? How much money was spent? Who will bear responsibility for this humiliation of the Macedonian national symbol?” SDSM said.
The musical and stage spectacle on the occasion of 35 years of independence was held last night at Biljanini Izvori Stadium in Ohrid. SDSM circulated a photograph of the disputed flag and urged immediate transparency about the production and costs of the show.
