SDSM: Citizens wait for hours at the border because of Hristijan Mickoski's 'isolation' policy

SDSM accused that long queues at internal border crossings are the result of an isolationist policy led by Hristijan Mickoski, saying motorists face hours of waiting as traffic has grown at almost every checkpoint around the country.

“While Hristijan Mickoski uses the state plane (which he already regards as private) to go on his trips, citizens wait for hours at the border because of his policy of isolating the country. Even at Stari Dojran there is congestion, the queue reaches 'Sv. Ilija'. This is the real picture of the policy implemented by the organized criminal group VMRO-OKG and Mickoski,” SDSM commented.

Party accuses officials of special treatment

The opposition party also charged that about half of the government ministers and some of their family members hold Bulgarian passports and receive preferential treatment at border controls, while ordinary Macedonian citizens suffer long waits and heat on the approaches to crossings.

“While they fly, the people stand in line. This is their policy,” SDSM added.

The Automoto Association of Macedonia (AMSM) said this afternoon that almost all border crossings are experiencing delays because of a higher volume of vehicles. The longest waits are reported at the Bogorodica and Dojran gates, where exit delays can reach up to three hours.
