Gripen fighter jet crashes near Szolnok, Hungary; pilot ejects unharmed

A Hungarian Gripen fighter jet crashed near Szolnok in central Hungary; the pilot ejected and was unharmed, the country’s prime minister Péter Magyar said.
Magyar added that the accident did not cause injuries or damage to civilian infrastructure.
Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi confirmed the pilot was not hurt and said the aviator took action to direct the aircraft to a safe, uninhabited area before it came down.
Investigation underway
The aircraft, produced in Sweden, went down for reasons that have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
Officials said a formal inquiry into the cause of the crash is ongoing as military and aviation investigators examine the site and the wreckage.
