Building collapses in Sydney's Ultimo, two men injured
Two men were pulled from the rubble after a partial collapse on Wattle Street in Ultimo; both were hospitalised with leg and neck injuries.
A building partially collapsed in the Ultimo neighbourhood of Sydney on Monday, leaving two men injured and prompting a multi‑agency emergency response.
Emergency services said the two men, both about 60 years old, were pulled from the rubble and taken to hospital in a serious condition. They are being treated for injuries to their legs and neck.
Roof and wall gave way near a petrol station
According to Fire and Rescue NSW the structure — described by responders as roughly seven metres high — suffered a partial collapse when the roof and one wall fell in on Wattle Street at about 11 a.m. on Monday. Debris landed on the road and struck the neighbouring Shell petrol station.
Photographs from the scene showed large piles of dislodged bricks stacked on top of one another and a collapsed roof that also damaged vehicles parked nearby.
Authorities remained at the scene to secure the area, assess the stability of adjacent buildings and investigate the cause of the collapse, while ambulance crews continued to treat the injured at hospital.
