Seven Republican House members vote with Democrats for resolution urging Trump to end war with Iran
The House passed the measure for a third time, this round with more Republican supporters than in earlier votes.
Seven Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives joined Democrats to approve a resolution calling on President Donald Trump to end the war with Iran. The measure passed as lawmakers again pressed the White House to explain and restrain the military campaign.
Third time in the House
The House adopted the resolution for the third time; this round featured a larger group of Republicans breaking ranks to support the measure. Previously, each of the two earlier votes attracted four Republican supporters.
In the most recent vote, the Republican representatives who voted with Democrats were Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn of Iowa, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina. Lawmakers who had backed the prior resolutions — and also supported the latest measure — include Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Tom Barrett of Michigan, Warren Davidson of Ohio and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.
The increase in Republican defections was described by observers as a political rebuke of how the Trump administration has managed the conduct of the war with Iran.
"I will not support another endless war. We can defend Americans, exert pressure on Iran and pursue peace, while ensuring Congress fulfills its constitutional responsibility," wrote Congressman Zach Nunn on X after the vote.
The resolution is nonbinding but signals congressional displeasure and could increase pressure on the White House to change its approach.
