Shasivari: Counting days until the language barrier for the judicial exam is removed

Justice Minister Jeton Shasivari said the government is counting the days until the language barrier for taking the judicial exam in Albanian is removed.

Shasivari met today with representatives of students and the deans of the five law faculties at the country's five universities. During the meeting, the proposed legislative solutions were presented and explained in practical terms.

Proposed changes and practical steps

Student representatives of Albanian background have been demanding the right to sit the judicial exam in the Albanian language. The meeting was announced as an opportunity to detail how the legal amendments would work in practice and what administrative steps are required.

"I do not make calculations with a calculator, but with a clock, in the sense of counting the days until this language barrier, which generations of law graduates have faced, is removed and linguistic inclusion is achieved while retaining the professional standard of this very important exam," said Jeton Shasivari, Minister of Justice.

The minister said the initiative aims to ensure linguistic inclusivity without lowering the professional requirements of the exam, which remains a central milestone for entry into the judiciary.
