12 September 2026 — Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev will meet for the title at the year’s final Grand Slam, the US Open in New York, after both players won their semi‑finals on Saturday.
Shelton reached his first Grand Slam final by overcoming countryman Francis Tiafoe in four sets. He dropped the opening set 6‑4 before rallying to take the next three, 6‑3, 6‑3 and 7‑5, producing strong serving and clutch play at decisive moments to break Tiafoe’s resistance.
The 23‑year‑old American earned his place in the final after an earlier upset in the quarterfinals, when he eliminated defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Zverev’s route to the last match
Alexander Zverev advanced to the final by defeating Karen Khachanov in straight sets, 6‑3, 7‑6 and 7‑6. The German will now pursue his second Grand Slam title in New York.
The championship match will pit American hopeful Shelton against the tournament’s No. 2 seed, Zverev. A Shelton victory would mark the first American man to win the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2003.
