Six detained after firearms discharged at family celebration in Dobridol

Six people have been detained and one person summoned for questioning after a video showing firearms being discharged at a family celebration in the village of Dobridol, near Gostivar, circulated on social networks, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said following searches at several addresses.

All searches were carried out in Dobridol, where police say they seized firearms and ammunition. The case was opened after the footage from the private event was shared online.

According to the ministry timeline, a search at I.S. (21) was conducted at 18:00 and, five minutes later, another search took place at A.I. (30); during those actions a gas pistol was found and confiscated. A simultaneous search was also carried out at I.B. (25).

At 18:15 officers searched the home of B.A., where they say they found 30 rounds for a gas pistol; in the yard they located 27 spent gas-pistol casings and one hunting cartridge.

"B.A. (46) and his son M.A. (21) from Dobridol have been detained. At 18:25 a search was carried out at T.M. (26), during which one pistol with eight rounds, one hunting rifle with seven rounds and one gas pistol were found and seized, after which he was detained, and S.M. was called in for an official interview," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Police announced that, after the case is fully documented, appropriate charges will be filed against those involved. The ministry also published the video of the incident on its social-media channels as part of its public statement.
