Scottish test: Hibernian drawn against Shkëndija in Conference League
Hibernian beat Malisheva 4–1 in the second leg to set up a tie with Shkëndija; first leg in Scotland is on August 6, 2026.
Hibernian will be Shkëndija’s opponent in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round after the Scottish side overturned a first-leg deficit against Malisheva.
Hibernian recovered from a 0–2 away loss to win the tie and advance
In the second-leg clash at their home ground the Edinburgh club defeated Kosovo’s Malisheva 4–1, erasing the 0–2 disadvantage from the opening match and sealing progress to the next round.
Hibernian are one of Scotland’s oldest clubs and arrive in this tie with recent European experience: in the previous Conference League campaign they reached the play-off round but were eliminated by Polish side Legia by a 5–4 aggregate score over two legs.
Earlier, in the 2023/24 season Hibernian dropped into the Conference League after elimination from the Europa League and again reached the play-off stage, where they were knocked out by English club Aston Villa.
The first leg between Hibernian and Shkëndija is scheduled for August 6, 2026, at Hibernian’s stadium; the return fixture in Skopje will take place seven days later, on August 13, 2026.
Both clubs will now prepare for the August fixtures as Hibernian aim to carry their momentum from the comeback and Shkëndija look to overturn the Scots on their own turf.
