Wedding in Pristina draws online backlash over bride’s dress

Celebrations — and weddings in particular — attract more attention on social media than ever. A recently resurfaced video from a wedding in Pristina has been shared widely for months: the newlywed couple dances into the hall, but viewers quickly fixate on the bride’s outfit.

In the clip a smiling groom leads his new wife by the hand as they join the guests on the dance floor. The pair move happily to the music while those present follow along.

Dress, not dancing, steals the show

The bride’s gown, however, has overshadowed everything else. It features a structured corset with so‑called "ears," a pronounced high slit, and is covered in lace with a discreet sparkle from sequins. She paired the dress with gloves, softened the neckline with a pearl necklace and wore her hair in a bun that emphasizes her face — the bride is described as very attractive.

Reactions in the comments have been sharp. These are only some of the remarks people from the region left: "It's like she's hung a curtain on herself, what a shame, she's a beautiful woman"; "Terrible"; "Everything is nice, but it's a shame to dress like this for that day"; "He can't look at her because he's ashamed!"
