Stuttgart beat Werder 1-0 as Maximilian Mittelstädt seals early winner

Stuttgart returned to winning ways after their Champions League loss to Galatasaray, edging Werder Bremen 1-0 at home in the 9th round of the Bundesliga on 7 November 2026. The result handed Werder their first league defeat in more than two months.

Match facts

The only goal arrived early: Maximilian Mittelstädt struck in the 7th minute, finishing from the left flank in a move that broke the deadlock for the hosts. Stuttgart then tried to protect the advantage and build on it against a Bremen side that had been on a lengthy unbeaten league run.

Werder had a clear chance to level in the 28th minute when El Kanus pounced on a lost ball, but Hein was well positioned and produced a fine save to deny the Moroccan’s clever attempt.

It was Stuttgart’s second victory at home since the start of the season in front of their supporters. The three points lifted the hosts to eighth place in the table and stopped their rivals from moving into a Champions League qualifying position.

The win gives Stuttgart a timely confidence boost after the disappointment in European competition earlier this week and refocuses their Bundesliga campaign as the season progresses.
