Powerful explosion at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh; airlines cancel flights
A strong blast hit King Khalid International Airport amid intensified Houthi strikes; carriers have suspended multiple services and passengers are warned to check flights.

On October 10, 2026, a powerful explosion rocked King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh as rocket and missile strikes by the Houthi group from Yemen against Saudi Arabia intensified.
The Saudi government's media service and the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia have not commented on the incident so far.
King Khalid International Airport urged passengers to contact their airlines directly and verify flight status before travelling to the airport.
Airlines suspend services to the Saudi capital
Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways announced the cancellation of several flights to Riyadh; some of those cancellations extend into Monday. Other carriers have also postponed or scrapped services in recent days amid security concerns.
Today's blast follows earlier attacks on the Riyadh airport earlier this week in which four people were killed, several were wounded and a Saudia aircraft was damaged. The string of assaults has prompted airlines to rethink schedules just days before large energy and investment conferences due to be held in the Saudi capital.
The situation remains fluid and passengers bound for Riyadh are being advised to check with their carriers for the latest information.
