Сириски суд ја осуди Башар ал-Асад на смрт во отсуство
Транзициските власти ја изрекоа пресудата за воени злосторства и злосторства против човештвото; братучедот Атеф Наџиб исто така осуден.

A Syrian court today sentenced former president Bashar al-Assad to death in absentia after finding him guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the civil war.
The same judgment also sentenced his maternal cousin, Atef Najib, to death. The court held Najib responsible for the repression in the southern province of Daraa that preceded the 2011 uprising and the subsequent civil war.
Case and defendants
Najib heard the verdict inside the courtroom while in custody and dressed in prison clothing. He is a former brigadier general in the Syrian army and in 2011 led the political security department in Daraa.
Bashar al-Assad and his brother Maher fled to Russia after rebels entered Damascus in December 2014. Najib was later arrested and became one of the highest-ranking officials to be put on trial.
The verdict against Assad is the first such decision since Syrian transitional authorities began trying former regime officials this year, including those held in detention and those tried in absentia.
