Scandal at Besiktas: Dusan Alimpijevic sends Metecan Birsen to locker room
Coach Dusan Alimpijevic escorted Metecan Birsen back to the locker room during Besiktas's 95–87 EuroLeague win over Bayern Munich.

Besiktas edged out Bayern Munich 95:87 on Friday night in a EuroLeague Round 6 game, but the result was overshadowed by a heated sideline incident in the second half.
At one point coach Dusan Alimpijevic removed Turkish guard Metecan Birsen from play. According to images from the bench area, Birsen reacted angrily, swore and immediately headed for the locker room.
Team-mates briefly retrieved Birsen and brought him back toward the court, but Alimpijevic refused to tolerate the behaviour. The Serbian coach escorted the player back to the locker room and dismissed him from the contest.

Portions of the episode were recorded and circulated on social media. One post summarised the sequence with the following lines: "Metecan Birsen went straight to the locker room after being taken out of the game." "Dusan Alimpijevic sent Metecan Birsen back after he returned from the locker room." — Eurohoops Turkey (@EurohoopsTR) October 16, 2026.
The incident added an unexpected subplot to Besiktas's comeback from a nearly lost 28-point lead and the 95:87 victory. No official sanctions or further comments from the club and players had been announced immediately after the game.
