Skopje man suspected of embezzling €110,000 — charged over false vehicle-registration reports
Authorities say false reports on vehicle-registration fees yielded 6.8 million denars; complaint covers Jan 1, 2021–Jan 20, 2026.

A Financial Crime Unit has filed a criminal complaint against a 47-year-old Skopje man and a legal entity from Skopje on suspicion of embezzlement in office and money laundering. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the suspect obtained an unlawful pecuniary benefit of 6.8 million denars (about €110,000), to the detriment of the state budget.
The MIA says the complaint covers actions carried out between 1 January 2021 and 20 January 2026. In that period the suspect, acting as an authorised person in a company licensed to perform technical vehicle inspections, prepared and submitted false reports on fees collected during vehicle registration to the Public Enterprise for State Roads, the Red Cross, the Republican Council for Road Traffic Safety, the Ministry of Environment and to several municipalities.
The report states that another individual, identified only by initials S.S., participated in the scheme. S.S. was, together with the suspect, authorised to prepare and sign invoices and to deliver reports to the competent institutions.
To conceal the origin of the money, the funds collected through two companies and an insurance brokerage firm from Skopje were repeatedly transferred between accounts and mixed with receipts from regular business activity. The MIA says the transactions were carried out on the basis of various contracts, including loans, agreements on joint construction and sale and purchase of real estate and vehicles, as well as by direct transfers of funds.
Assets and charges
Portions of the proceeds were reportedly used to purchase immovable and movable property for the benefit of the reported legal entity. The Financial Crime Unit has forwarded the case to the competent authorities; the two suspects will face charges of embezzlement in office and money laundering.
