Skopje to open new Luna Park — completion by end of 2027
City of Skopje says procurement was adjusted to avoid duplicate purchases; first seven rides will be installed within a month.

Skopje will get a modern Luna Park that the city says will reopen a long-missed space for children and families, with completion scheduled by the end of 2027 under the programme of Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski.
City: project on the original timetable despite procurement issues
According to the City of Skopje, the new park is planned as a contemporary entertainment complex with attractions for different age groups. The city added: "The new Luna Park is conceived as a modern amusement complex with varied content for different ages. In addition to classic fairground equipment, a roller coaster, a panoramic wheel, water attractions, interactive games and virtual reality zones are planned, which will offer a completely new experience for visitors."
Officials explained that after the termination of an earlier procurement contract—signed during the term of former mayor Koce Trajanovski—the company that held that contract initiated legal action against the city. A court ruling in favour of the company, obliging the municipality to pay for the equipment, was issued after the new tender had already been signed.
The city decided to terminate the newer contract by mutual agreement so that the same equipment would not be purchased twice and to protect public funds. "This decision does not change the deadline for the construction of the new Luna Park. In one month the installation of the seven pieces of equipment purchased under the previous contract will begin, together with site works, so that this part of the park can start operating," the statement said.
Authorities said a follow-up tender will procure the remaining attractions, including the roller coaster and the panoramic wheel, completing the park's offer. The value of that subsequent contract will be less than 10 million euros.
The new Luna Park will occupy a larger area than the former facility by extending into the part of the City Park previously used for summer discos, cleared six months ago. The expansion is intended to allow more attractions, better layout and a more pleasant visitor experience.
City officials framed the project as a return of a safe, modern play space where children’s enjoyment and family time will be the priority, and said installation work will begin shortly on the first set of attractions.
