Scorpion bites passenger at Düsseldorf airport — hid in her jacket after holiday on Kos
A 52-year-old woman was stung at the terminal after returning from the Greek island of Kos; emergency teams captured the animal and it was handed to a specialized reptile facility.

On Friday a passenger at Düsseldorf Airport was bitten by a scorpion that had hidden inside her jacket after a holiday on the Greek island of Kos. The woman is 52 years old, airport emergency teams said.
Emergency medical services responded immediately; they treated the woman at the scene and transported her to hospital. During transfer she complained of pain at the sting site, which she described as similar to a wasp sting. Despite the pain, she remained conscious and able to communicate.
A reptile expert from the Düsseldorf fire department was called to the terminal and located the scorpion. The specialist captured the animal and removed it safely from the area.
Further care and follow-up
After consultation with the poison control center, the reptile expert and the emergency physician, the woman was transferred to a university hospital for continued treatment. Authorities said there is so far no update on her medical condition.
The captured scorpion was handed over to a specialized reptile zoo near Düsseldorf for care and identification.
Airport staff and emergency crews secured the scene and examined the passenger's belongings to ensure there were no other animals present.
