Scott McTominay to Undergo Heart Operation, Napoli Confirms

Napoli announced that Scott McTominay will undergo a corrective heart operation after the club confirmed the Scotland international has been diagnosed with a mild and benign cardiac arrhythmia. The 29-year-old is scheduled for the procedure in the coming days "so he can be available again after the international break."

What the club said and what it means

The club described McTominay's condition as an episode in which his heart occasionally fails to beat in a normal rhythm. The planned intervention is a minimally invasive procedure commonly used to correct arrhythmias and is intended to preserve normal heart function.

McTominay left Manchester United in August 2024 and joined Napoli for £25.7 million. A product of United's academy, he entered the club system at the age of five and rose through the ranks to the first team.

During his time at Old Trafford he made 255 appearances under four different permanent managers, scoring 29 goals and providing eight assists.

Since moving to Napoli he has already featured 82 times, registering 27 goals and 10 assists for the Italian side.

McTominay also played in all three of Scotland's matches at the World Cup this summer. Napoli say they expect him to return to training and matches after the international pause.
