Pelister's rocky start fuels anger in Bitola

FK Pelister have stumbled out of the gate in the Second League, and frustration in Bitola is already vocal. The club managed only a 1:1 home draw against recently promoted Kamjani — a result that came after a penalty rescued the hosts — and in their previous fixture they were held to a 0:0 by Brera despite having a numerical advantage for almost the entire second half.

Those two matches have left Pelister with just two points and a single goal scored (that goal coming from a penalty). The poor start raises fresh questions about a squad that, despite carrying one of the largest budgets in the division, has shown little cohesion or clear potential so far.

Pressure on the coaching staff

Supporters and local commentators have begun to question whether Borche Hristov was the right appointment as head coach. Criticism — at times turning to insults — has been directed at Hristov, his assistants and the club's recruitment choices after what many describe as thin, uninspiring performances in both opening fixtures.

Last season Pelister spent millions and ultimately suffered relegation; that context amplifies expectations now, because the investment once again appears to be among the biggest in the Second League. For many in Bitola the discrepancy between spending and on-field results is glaring.

Fans have made their dissatisfaction obvious in the streets, in the stands and across social media. The message is simple: two matches, two dropped opportunities, and a style of play that has yet to convince.

There is one immediate reprieve — the next game is away at Makedonija in Gjorche Petrov — but for Pelister and Hristov there is little room for patience. Supporters are demanding visible improvement and quick results.
