Slovenia hit by injuries — Sesko plus two more miss clash with North Macedonia

The Slovenia national team faces a fresh selection crisis ahead of its Nations League fixtures after several players were ruled out through injury.
North Macedonia will play its first League B match at home against Switzerland on September 26, 2026, and then travel to Ljubljana for the meeting with Slovenia three days later, on September 29, 2026, at Stožice Stadium.
Slovenia's main attacking option, Benjamin Sesko, the Manchester United forward, has been confirmed as injured and will not be available for selection.
Additional absences and replacements
Two more Slovenian internationals withdrew over the weekend due to injury: Žan Zaltel and Nik Prevec. In response the coaching staff have called up Žan Celar and Jure Balkovec as replacements.
The losses leave Slovenia thinner in attack and will force coach into adjustments ahead of the game in Ljubljana, where squad depth will be tested against North Macedonia’s preparations.
For North Macedonia, the schedule is unchanged, but the visitors will now face a Slovenian side missing several regulars when the teams meet on September 29, 2026.
