"Serve me while I'm alive, I have money": Bosnian married an old man in Germany for documents, after his death she inherited a pension
Hana says she married an older German for documents, after his death she inherited a pension and plans to return in 2025.
The Bosnian woman Hana, in a confession on a YouTube channel for emigrants, recounted that in 2014 she went to Germany for three months, married an older gentleman to sort out the documents and, after his death, inherited a pension; she plans to return to Bosnia in 2025.
"In 2014 I came to Germany for three months to work and earn money for a jeep, I had a hair salon in Bosnia and I closed it… I came to work, to take care of a man…", Hana begins the story, explaining that she left with a one-way ticket and with money from her mother, who told her: "I don't know why you're going there, you can come back, many people there are idle."
She says the beginning was difficult because she didn't know the language and she went alone to look for work. After two or three weeks, Hana recounts, she was introduced to the older gentleman in a restaurant through a man from Kosovo who spoke Serbian and translated for her.
Condition for the marriage and the money
Hana relays the man's proposal as she heard it: "Serve me while I'm alive, I have money, I'll give you documents, I'll give you everything I have…" She also tells how he gave her money to settle her debts: "The man handed me 5,000 and said, 'Go to Bosnia and pay it,' and I had a loan of 3,000, he gave me another two thousand…"
According to her account, she did not feel like a slave — she prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, but while he was alive he took care of his own hygiene and she bathed him for the first time after his death. The man was over 80 years old and, although she had been informed about three adult sons, during the notary procedure it emerged that there was a fourth son.
After he died, Hana sat down with the deceased man's children and asked them: "Tell me, have I taken anything that does not belong to me?" She is now determined to return to Bosnia in 2025, because she already has a pension, and combined with the German man's pension and the 500 euros he left her, she estimates it will be enough.
"I don't need more, to have something to eat and drink and that's it," Hana says, adding that she hopes her pension will grow over the years.
