Driver with 2,06‰ arrested after driving the wrong way on the Mother Teresa Highway

A 33-year-old man from the Tetovo-area village of Dobroshte was arrested on 28 October 2026 after driving the wrong way on the Gostivar–Tetovo section of the Mother Teresa Highway while intoxicated, police said.

Stop at the Tetovo toll station

According to police reports, officers received a call that a Škoda with Tetovo license plates was travelling in the opposite direction. The car was stopped at the Tetovo toll station, and breath or blood testing showed the driver, B.O. (33), had 2,06‰ alcohol in his system. He was taken into custody.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also detained: A.J. (27) from Neraste and N.A. (38) from Dobroshte. Police say both passengers behaved "aggressively and insolently" toward officers while they were performing their duties.

All three were held at a police station. After the case is fully documented, appropriate charges will be filed against them.

The incident occurred on 28 October; further procedural steps will be carried out by the competent authorities in Tetovo.
