Parking spaces in Novo Lisiche have been marked for months — still no start date for zonal parking

For months horizontal and vertical markings have been carried out on the parking lots in Novo Lisiche and Reon Center, but citizens still do not have a precise date for when zonal parking will start. The responsible services say that the work is in its final phase, but the activation of the system remains unknown.

Delays, protests and a promise of parallel application

The initiative to introduce zonal parking in Reon Center met with strong reactions from some residents, especially from Novo Lisiche. After the pressure, the municipal enterprise "City Parking" and the City of Skopje postponed the planned start to April 1, 2026 and announced that implementation should be carried out simultaneously in both parts of the Aerodrom municipality, so as not to cause a spillover of parking problems.

The Mayor of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, reported that he listens to and respects the citizens' request, and the following directive was conveyed: "A directive has been given to the director of PE 'City Parking' that, in the Municipality of Aerodrom, in the Reon Center where zone D12 is being introduced, the old rule will continue to apply: every resident — individuals and legal entities — will be able to park in all zones within the municipality's territory without paying a fee, as was previously announced. And this rule will continue to apply to the entire Aerodrom."

The municipal administration in Aerodrom explains that the marking of the parking spaces is being carried out by PE "Streets and Roads" under an inter-municipal cooperation agreement, while the operation and management of the zones will be taken over by PE "City Parking" – Skopje after the installation of all signage is completed and after receiving approval from the Skopje Police Department (SVR Skopje).

The situation in Autokomanda, on the other hand, is progressing more slowly: although the Mayor of Gazi Baba, Boban Stefkovski, said in August last year that the zonal parking project had been approved, so far there are no visible markings or informational boards installed. The City says it has contacted the Municipality of Gazi Baba and received a response that the process of marking and installing signs is underway.

The City of Skopje did not give a concrete deadline for exactly when the new traffic regime will be introduced in the mentioned neighborhoods, but reiterated that the price list for Aerodrom will not change and that residents located in the existing "D" zone will be able to park two vehicles free of charge.
