Italy's Andrea Colombo has been appointed referee for North Macedonia’s Nations League B match away to Slovenia in Ljubljana on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The decision comes after North Macedonia’s heavy defeat to Switzerland the previous evening, and the team led by coach Goce Sedloski will face a quick return to competitive action.
Colombo's recent assignments and refereeing profile
Colombo is regarded as one of Italy’s promising young referees and has been increasingly entrusted with high-profile fixtures. He attracted attention last year when he wore a referee body camera in the Serie A fixture Juventus–Inter, a first in the competition, and he has since been a regular on the Serie A list.
The same official refereed the Serie A match Roma–Atalanta (2:1) on September 5, 2026, in which North Macedonia midfielder Eljif Elmas featured, linking Colombo recently to encounters involving Macedonian players.
For the Ljubljana fixture Colombo’s assistants will be Giovanni Baccini, Valerio Colarossi and Matteo Marcenaro. The VAR room will be staffed by Michael Fabbri and Federico La Penna, all officials from Italy.
North Macedonia will attempt to recover from the loss to Switzerland and gather points in the second round of Group 1 in Nations League B, while Slovenia will prepare to host the match at the Stožice Stadium.
