Parliament adopted the National Road Safety Strategy 2026–2030 and over 40 laws
In the afternoon session the strategy and a package of over 40 laws were approved; SDSM voted against, as the coordinator said, citing 44 harmonizations.
The Parliament this afternoon adopted the National Strategy for Road Traffic Safety 2026–2030 and over 40 laws passed by shortened procedure.
MPs voted on the package in a session in which no substantive debate was held on the proposals. The changes were explained as technical harmonizations with the Law on Senior Executives.
Strategy and amendments adopted in parallel
The strategic document on road safety for the period 2026–2030 was presented as a framework of integrated measures and activities aimed at reducing the number of fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents and at creating a safer, more efficient and sustainable road infrastructure.
In addition to the strategy, MPs voted in favor of more than 40 laws, some of which were listed as harmonizing amendments. The purpose of these changes is to establish a unified system for selection, appointment, conditions and accountability of senior executive officials in the state administration and funds, with the aim of improving leadership and governance.
MPs from SDSM voted against all the laws in the package. The coordinator Oliver Spasovski explained that their parliamentary group does not give support because, he said: "with the proposed 44 laws an alignment is being carried out for specific individuals who run institutions and who do not have specific education in the field."
The legislative measures were adopted without debate and the record notes that this afternoon both the strategy and the package of amendments were also adopted.
