Serbia 76-64 Italy: Serbia snapped a run of World Cup setbacks against Italy with a 76:64 victory in a 2027 World Cup qualifying game on August 31, 2026.

The win was Serbia's sixth in the qualifying campaign; they now have two losses and sit second in Group J behind Turkey, which beat Iceland 110-73 on the road.

Marco Gudurić and Aleksa Avramović took charge in the decisive moments as Italy mounted threats. Avramović scored 20 points, adding three rebounds and three assists, while Gudurić finished with 19 points, four assists and two steals. Nikola Jokić played 24 minutes and posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Other qualifying headlines

Greece halted a three-game losing streak by edging Spain 108-106 in a thriller, keeping their hopes for World Cup qualification alive. In the same group, Montenegro lost at home to Ukraine, 89-98, with Ukraine topping the table.

Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina saw their chances for a World Cup berth severely reduced after a 78-73 defeat in Lithuania.
