Serbian citizen arrested for hacking state institutions in Croatia
The Police Directorate said the Cybersecurity Service has completed the investigation and a criminal complaint has been filed with the Zagreb County State Attorney's Office.
The Croatian police have arrested a Serbian citizen after concluding an investigation into hacking attacks on the computer systems of several state institutions.
The Police Directorate said the Cybersecurity Service has completed the investigation against the adult Serbian citizen, on suspicion that he committed "serious criminal offenses against computer systems, programs and data, as well as the criminal offense of unauthorized use of personal data."
Searches and seizures
According to the police, the suspect accessed without authorization the computer systems of several legal entities and public authorities. Based on court orders, searches were carried out in premises, vehicles and on electronic devices.
Items and digital data suspected to be connected to the commission of the criminal offenses were seized during the searches. The suspect was taken into custody on 29 July 2026 (yesterday), and a criminal complaint has been filed with the County State Attorney's Office in Zagreb.
The police said the investigation continues with the aim of determining all circumstances of the case.
