SSM: Syndical minimum basket for August is 68,675 denars (with rent 84,050)
SSM calculated a syndical minimum basket of 68,675 denars for a four-member family in August; with rent the minimum rises to 84,050 denars.
The Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) reported that the syndical minimum basket for August amounts to 68,675 denars for a four-member household.
Compared with the syndical minimum basket for July 2026, which stood at 68,498 denars, the August figure represents an increase of 177 denars, the union said.
Household budget with rent
SSM’s calculations show that a family living in a rented 60-square-metre apartment needs at least 84,050 denars in August to cover basic monthly living costs. For a four-member household the union estimates that more than 25,000 denars are required for food and beverages, about 6,500 denars for clothing and shoes, and roughly the same amount for water, electricity and heating.
In addition to those items, SSM’s basket counts around 2,600 denars per month for personal hygiene products for a four-member family.
The union presented the figures as an updated snapshot of minimum living needs for August, highlighting modest month-to-month growth in the cost of the basket.
