Vincent Kompany stable but remains hospitalized as diagnosis is pending

Vincent Kompany remains hospitalized with a stable condition, but doctors have not yet reached a final diagnosis, Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl said after the club's 3:1 win over Freiburg in the seventh round of the Bundesliga on October 26, 2026.

Health monitored, diagnosis pending

Kompany was admitted to hospital after collapsing during a training session with Bayern's reserve team. According to Eberl, the Belgian coach no longer suffers from headaches but will remain under specialist supervision until doctors determine the cause of the episode.

"Vini's condition is stable. He no longer has headaches and will continue to be monitored by specialists. We left him in peace. Vincent must await the diagnosis, and then we'll know what needs to be done. For now there is no final diagnosis," Eberl said.

Eberl stressed that the club's priority is Kompany's health and that nobody at Bayern will rush his return to the touchline. The coaching staff and medical team are keeping him under close observation while tests continue.

The update came after Bayern's 3:1 victory over Freiburg, a result that allowed the team to take three points in the early stages of the Bundesliga season while the club deals with the coach's medical situation.

Earlier reports also noted that Jeylen Williams suffered a severe wrist fracture (VIDEO).
