Chornomorets Stadium in Odesa hit at about 15:00 on Friday; structural damage and two injured reported ahead of a planned Chornomorets–Kolos game.
One of southern Ukraine’s largest football arenas, Chornomorets Stadium in Odesa, was struck in a Russian missile attack on Friday, damaging the venue and injuring two people ahead of a top‑flight fixture.
Damage threatens Saturday’s match
Authorities say the strike hit the stadium at about 15:00 on Friday. The arena, which can hold more than 34,000 spectators and serves as the home ground for Chornomorets Odesa and Seasters, suffered structural and superficial damage.
Officials reported that load‑bearing elements of the stadium were damaged, windows around the perimeter were shattered and sections of the stands were hit. Emergency services and local authorities secured the area and investigated the extent of the destruction.
A scheduled Ukrainian Premier League match between Chornomorets and Kolos set for Saturday has been thrown into doubt while assessments continue.
Ukrainian politician Oleksii Honcharenko was the first to publish images and video from the scene on his Telegram channel, announcing the attack and sharing footage of the damage.
According to initial reports, two people were wounded in the strike. Local officials are monitoring the situation and have not yet confirmed whether the match will be postponed or relocated.
