Stephen Curry has made clear he intends to finish his playing career with the Golden State Warriors, leaving little doubt about his long-term plans.
The point guard, now 38, will be eligible to sign a two-year maximum contract worth more than $130 million next summer. The franchise has effectively allowed Curry to set the terms of that deal as he decides how and when to close out a Hall of Fame résumé.
Health the main concern
Curry himself has reiterated his commitment to remain with the Warriors. "There is no doubt I want to stay until the end of my career and I am absolutely certain that will happen," he said.
Still, the biggest question mark is his knee. Curry appeared in only about 40 games last season, and his availability will hinge on how his recovery progresses in the coming months. If rehabilitation goes well, the expectation is that he could play more than 70 games next season.
Curry began his NBA career in 2009 and has spent every season since with Golden State. Across that span he has won four NBA championships and cemented his place among the league’s greatest shooters.
As contract talks look ahead to next summer, the focus for the Warriors and their star will be balancing long-term commitment with realistic expectations about minutes and health management for the final stages of his career.
