Hundreds march in Belgrade for Zoran Kesić after Nova S removes '24 Minutes'
Journalist groups and NGOs organised a rally; the show's new season will launch on YouTube on 19 September.
Hundreds of people marched in Belgrade last night to show support for the team behind the satirical show 24 Minutes after the programme was removed from the schedule of TV Nova S by its new owners.
The demonstration in support of Zoran Kesić and Njuz.net was organised by a coalition of journalist associations and non-governmental organisations, which called on citizens to gather following the decision.
What the broadcasters and Kesić say
Nova S's management said the show was taken off air because it was too expensive and because an agreement between the programme's team and the company that owns Nova S failed; the broadcaster recently received new leadership.
The new season of 24 Minutes with Zoran Kesić is scheduled to begin on 19 September on the show's YouTube channel, after previously airing on Nova S.
Kesić has said he believes the move was driven by political, not business, reasons.
