Incident and arrest
"On 24.08.2026 at 17:25 in the village of Morani, Skopje, based on a court order, police officers from the Unit for Intervention Police at the Skopje Police Department detained B.A.(20) from the village of Studenichani, Skopje. Earlier, he with a vehicle 'Volkswagen Golf' with Skopje registration plates, which he was driving, did not stop at a stop sign given by police officers, but shortly thereafter with the vehicle he hit a concrete wall, and then, moving backwards, hit a 'Škoda Yeti' vehicle, property of the Ministry of Interior. After he was detained, additional checks were carried out and it was established that he was wanted to serve a two-year prison sentence for criminal offenses under Article 292 and Article 288 of the Criminal Code. The person will be escorted to the competent penitentiary institution to serve the sentence," the Ministry of Interior said.
According to the ministry's account, officers were acting on a standing court order when they attempted to stop the car in the village of Morani, in the Skopje area. The driver failed to comply with the stop signal and soon lost control, colliding first with a concrete wall.
After the initial impact, the vehicle moved in reverse and struck a police-owned Škoda Yeti. Law enforcement secured the scene and carried out further identity and status checks on the detained man.
Those checks revealed that the 20-year-old was wanted to serve a two-year custodial sentence for offences listed under Articles 292 and 288 of the Criminal Code; following processing he will be transferred to the appropriate correctional facility to begin serving that sentence.
