Skopje police identify and fine woman filmed dumping waste into the Lepenec

Skopje police have identified and sanctioned the woman filmed throwing waste into the Lepenec river, authorities said on 17.09.2026.

On 17.09.2026 at 11:45, the General Jurisdiction Police Station Karpoš summoned M.I.B.(38) from Skopje in connection with previously shared video footage on social networks showing an unidentified female with a passenger motor vehicle "Porsche" on Skupi Street, by the bridge over the Lepenec, throwing waste into the river. After measures and investigative steps were taken, her identity was established and she was interviewed at the police station.

Official sanctions and legal basis

Following documentation of the case, a paid order was issued to M.I.B. pursuant to Article 14 paragraph 1 of the Law on Public Cleanliness for "throwing packaging outside places designated for that purpose", and a written record with a paid order was issued pursuant to Article 63 paragraph 6 of the Law on Road Traffic Safety for "improperly parked passenger motor vehicle on the carriageway lane."

The police statement noted that the measures were taken after the video recordings circulated on social media and that the person was summoned to the Karpoš police station for an official interview.

The case was formally recorded and administrative penalties were applied according to the cited legal provisions.
