WHO: Thousands of Gaza patients still waiting for medical evacuation
WHO says evacuations continue but thousands of patients still await transfer; nearly 13,000 people evacuated since October 2023.

The World Health Organization said thousands of patients in the Gaza Strip remain on waiting lists for medical evacuation even after a ceasefire took effect.
WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasharevic wrote that, since October 2023, a total of 12,913 patients have been medically evacuated from Gaza, including 6,186 children, accompanied by about 16,000 companions.
He added that evacuations are currently carried out three to four times per week and that the pace remains limited by logistics and security conditions.
"Last week, from 2 to 8 August, 101 patients and 164 companions were evacuated", he said, stressing that thousands of patients still await medical evacuation.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza earlier reported that after the ceasefire came into force on 10 October 2025, Israeli strikes killed 1,258 people and wounded 4,145.
The ministry also stated that the total number of deaths in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has reached 73,386, while the number of injured stands at 174,256.
