On 06.10.2026 Tajikistan secured a 1–0 friendly victory away to China, marking the first time the Central Asian side has beaten one of Asia’s traditional powers.
The only goal arrived in the 53rd minute when Hanonov finished to give the visitors the lead and ultimately the win.
Earlier this international window Tajikistan had suffered defeats to Azerbaijan and Palestine, but the result in China represented a clear reversal of fortunes for the team coached by Igor "Mrme" Angelovski.
Historic milestone and next steps
The win is the first in Tajikistan’s history against China and stands out as an important confidence boost for Angelovski’s side ahead of upcoming competitions.
Next month Tajikistan will travel to Thailand to take part in the King's Cup, where they will face Thailand, Oman and Bahrain.
