Bodies of 27-year-old father and infant found in Demiraj; grandfather arrested
Authorities say a 65-year-old was detained after the bodies of a 27-year-old man and his baby were discovered in a home in Demiraj, near Gnjilane.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested after the bodies of a 27-year-old father and his infant daughter were discovered inside a family home in the village of Demiraj, near Gnjilane.
Police response and initial findings
Police received a report on 1 November at 8:47 that two lifeless bodies had been found in a house in Demiraj. Units from the local police, a state prosecutor and emergency medical teams went to the scene and confirmed the deaths.
Ismet Hashani, the police spokesman for the Gnjilane region, said the arrested 65-year-old is the father of the 27-year-old man whose body was located in the house. Initial investigative actions indicate the incident is being treated as a family-related homicide, and there is suspicion the grandfather killed his son and the son’s underage daughter, who was still an infant.
By order of the state prosecutor, the suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours. The victims’ bodies were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy.
The police and the prosecution said they will continue an intensive investigation to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have not released further details while the probe is ongoing.
