Serious traffic accident near the Assembly: one injured, traffic light knocked down

A traffic accident occurred today around noon at the intersection between the Assembly and the City Hospital “St. Naum Ohridski” in Skopje involving two passenger vehicles; one driver was injured and a traffic light at the scene was knocked down.

One injured transferred to the Complex of Clinics "Mother Teresa", investigation underway

The Ministry of Internal Affairs says the report was received on August 4, 2026 at 11:50 a.m. The accident happened at the intersection of 11 October Street and Philip II Street in Skopje, where a passenger car "BMW" with Skopje registration plates, driven by K.P. (22) from Skopje, collided with a passenger car "Golf" with Skopje registration plates.

"Today (04.08.2026) at 11:50 a report was received at the Skopje Police Department that at the intersection of 11 October Street and Philip II Street in Skopje a traffic accident occurred between a passenger car 'BMW' with Skopje registration plates, driven by K.P. (22) from Skopje, and a passenger car 'Golf' with Skopje registration plates. In the accident, the driver of the passenger car 'Golf' was transported by an ambulance vehicle to the Complex of Clinics 'Mother Teresa' to receive medical assistance," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The traffic light at the intersection was also damaged; it had been twisted and knocked down by the force of the collision, which further disrupted traffic flows in that part of the city.

Emergency Medical Service crews and the police intervened at the scene; the police announced that the investigation is still ongoing and that the causes and circumstances that led to the collision will be determined.

Additional information about the extent of the driver's injuries or any possible violations has not been released so far.
