Bit Pazar stalls demolished as Skopski Pazar renovates market

Construction machinery has recently been demolishing market stalls at Bit Pazar in Skopje. The area where the stalls are being taken down is private property owned by Skopski Pazar, which is carrying out renovation work on the market.

Čair Municipality has responded to the activity, stressing that the intervention is not the start of new construction. Instead, municipal officials say the existing sales boxes have been worn down over the years and are being removed to make way for new, modern units.

Owner-led renovation, municipality says no new buildings

According to the municipality, the changes on the site involve replacement of the old selling boxes rather than erection of buildings or extensions. The work is being carried out on privately owned parcels managed by Skopski Pazar.

Local authorities framed the activity as a market renovation intended to upgrade the physical condition of the stalls and improve the market environment, while ensuring no new permanent structures will be added to the plot.

Vendors and citizens around Bit Pazar have observed the removal of the older stalls in recent days; Skopski Pazar is overseeing the installation of the new units as part of its renovation plan.
