A minibus carrying players and staff from Dinamo Bucharest's reserve team crashed into a tree in Câmpulung, Argeș County, Romania, leaving one club staff member dead and several others injured.

Police and club: driver suffered a heart attack while driving

The accident happened on July 31, 2026, in the town of Câmpulung. Local reports say the 83-year-old driver suffered a heart attack behind the wheel, lost control of the vehicle and the minibus left the road before striking a tree.

There were 16 people on board at the time. The club confirmed that the team's physiotherapist died at the scene, while ten people were treated for injuries and taken for medical care. Players and members of the coaching staff sustained injuries but, according to official information, are not in life-threatening condition.

Adrian Ropotan, the reserve-team coach, suffered fractures to both arms in the crash.

Dinamo Bucharest issued a statement about the incident: "The second team of our club, which was on the way to the camp in Câmpulung, had a traffic accident on the way to training. The driver of the minibus lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and directly hit a tree by the road. According to the information we have, the driver suffered a heart attack while driving, which led to the loss of control."

The club confirmed the identity of the deceased staff member: "Unfortunately, Mr. Constantin Covaciu, a member of the club's medical staff, died as a result of the accident. All other passengers have been taken to hospital for further checks. The players and coaching staff are injured, but their lives are not in danger. We are in direct contact with the local services and will inform the public in a timely manner about new information. Dinamo also expresses deep condolences to the entire family. Our club was an extremely important part of the coaching staff for years, and he also worked with the senior team."

Local emergency services responded and transferred the injured to nearby hospitals. The club said it is maintaining contact with authorities and will provide updates when available.
