Tragedy in Slovenia: Minor Boy Finds His Mother Stabbed to Death
Police arrested a 39-year-old Bosnian citizen following an extensive manhunt on suspicion of brutally murdering his partner in their home.
A horrific scene awaited a minor boy from the Slovenian settlement of Vuhred when he returned to his home. On the floor lay the lifeless body of his 36-year-old mother, who had been fatally injured with a bladed weapon. In a state of severe shock, the child immediately contacted his uncle, who promptly arrived and took him to the local health center in Radlje ob Dravi. From there, the duty doctor immediately alerted the police, reporting the case about half an hour after midnight.
The suspect in this cruel crime is the victim's 39-year-old partner, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After committing the bloody act, he fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Slovenian authorities immediately organized a massive manhunt involving about thirty police officers, criminal inspectors, special tracking dogs, drones, and a police helicopter. Due to the proximity of the state borders, the security services of Austria and Croatia were also notified, and the bed of the Drava River was searched in detail due to fears of a possible suicide by the perpetrator.
After nearly a full day of intensive searching, the fugitive was located and deprived of his liberty shortly before midnight, in the immediate vicinity of the residential building where the murder took place. He offered no resistance to the police officers during the arrest. Unofficial sources of the "Žurnal24" portal claim that the man is Amir Uzunović and that the victim's throat was slit, but the police currently only confirm that death resulted from severe injuries inflicted with a knife.
The motive for this family tragedy still remains a great mystery to the investigating authorities. Neighbors are in complete disbelief, describing the suspect as a quiet, polite, and hardworking man who never caused problems in the community. The police administration in Celje informed that the family had no previous reports of domestic violence, and the man had only one traffic violation on his record. However, there are serious indications that he had been facing significant mental instability recently.
The minor child has been safely taken into the care of the competent center for social work, while the suspect will be brought before an investigating judge with an appropriate criminal complaint for murder upon completion of the investigative procedure.
